How amazing would it be to gather your '5 a day' from your very own garden and bare root plants are a fantastic way to get started but be quick as the window of opportunity to plant these is closing very soon. Here's the link to our Grow Your Own section
Whilst I’m on the subject, my nephew, Jack and Toby have embraced the lovely weather and have made fantastic progress on their beautiful garden this week. They’ve been keeping me up to date and from the messages that I have received I can tell that the most exciting event this week was receiving their early Birthday pressies, a couple of new toys, a mower and strimmer!
The veg beds have been filled with quality soil ready to give their produce the best start possible and they have even started planting.
The boys absolutely love to cook from scratch using fresh produce and have therefore also designed and constructed their own fabulous Herb Garden.
The warmer weather really does help to persuade us to do a few jobs outside and giving our lawns a little tlc now will make a real difference later in the season. We’ve been busy scarifying and making air holes this week and we’ve also got some grass seed ready to sprinkle on the bald patches.
I am so impressed with what they have both achieved so far and with all of these fruits, veg and herbs, they’ll be using ‘local produce’ every day (you can’t get more local than your own garden eh!)
As the soil surface has finally started to dry out, now is the perfect time to get onions and shallots into the garden too, we’ll be reaching our 5 a day before we know it!
Finally,I hope that you had a lovely weekend. I was so happy to be able to see some family and friends over the weekend (in the garden and on walks). If I’m being honest, more than anything, I was even happier that the Easter bunny left me heaps of chocolate!
Take care & happy planting,
