An all year interest multi stemmed shrub.
In Spring the foliage opens from light green fading to dark green. Each glossy surfaced leaf has 3 heavy veins and ruffled edges giving an interesting foliage shape.
In August, 7 white flowers open on each cluster which are lightly fragrant and delicate on the eye. When these innocent blooms drop vivid red calyx appear in complete contrast to the flowers and remain on show until November.
In autumn its leaves may gain a purple hue and when they drop to reveal stunning peeling bark on its woody stems for the winter.
Generally an easy shrub to grow which requires full sun and a sheltered position.
Prune in late winter to early spring removing any unwanted growth to an outward facing bud.
