6 Reasons Container Gardening is a Game-Changer for Your Outdoor Space

6 Reasons Container Gardening is a Game-Changer for Your Outdoor Space

Would you believe that in our garden we have over 150 pots and containers?  I can’t quite believe it myself and I know we won’t stop there.  There always seems to be another spot we can squeeze a few into!

The thing with container gardening is it gives you so many options that traditional gardening doesn’t, so here is my top 6 reasons why no outdoor space is complete without an array of gorgeous planters:

  1. Containers give you the opportunity to grow things that wouldn’t normally flourish in your garden.  Because you can determine the soil pH  within your pot you can grow acid loving plants such as Rhododendrons and Camellias even if your garden soil isn’t suitable

  2. Reinvent your garden to suit your mood!  Border planting is wonderful and gives a great display but planting in pots and containers means you can achieve a new look whenever the fancy takes you.  By simply moving your containers around you suddenly have a whole new look to your space.  Each container can be the star of the show when the time is right.

  3. Pots and containers can be a more accessible way of gardening.  Planters are elevated to make your gardening easier to access and require less bending down which is perfect for those who are less mobile.

  4. Easy to care for, container plants tend to be more accessible for maintenance jobs such as pruning and feeding.  Also, by underplanting specimen shrubs or plants in containers it’s much easier to keep away those pesky weeds.

  5. If you fancy trying your hand at growing something that may be a little sensitive to the colder, winter weather, grow in a pot or container.  Pots can be moved closer to the house during the winter or placed in a greenhouse or conservatory to help your precious plants make it through the cold spell.

  6. Grow fruit and veg in a planter for juicy crops that are easier to care for and easier to harvest.
