Fond Family Memories In The Garden

Isn’t it lovely when you have a spontaneous fond memory of your childhood triggered by someone mentioning a particular plant?  This is exactly what happened to me yesterday!  James was revealing the details of this week’s fab ‘Deal of the Week’ and I instantly remembered the Magnolia tree at the end of our driveway when I was growing up.  The Magnolia was my dad’s pride and joy (along with the Walnut tree, can picture him now peeling the juicy, fresh walnuts) and I recall the announcements each time the Magnolia was on the brink of flowering, I love how the garden made him so happy.

Everyone has heard of a Magnolia, even if you haven’t grown one before, they have been a gardener’s favourite for a very long time.  I think that we can be a little cautious and there seems to be a bit of a stigma about them being a tad tricky to look after but I am here to reassure you and if you fancy adding to your collection or giving one a home for the first time, this deal is the one for you.  A wonderful slow growing, elegant and graceful shrub, perfect in a patio pot and very easy to care for and we are always here to help with any additional care instructions and support

In other news, my children are busy beavering away with their home schooling (one more than the other though to be honest).  It obviously isn’t an ideal situation, and they miss their friends, but I remind myself, and them, that we are lucky to be seeing more of each other even if it involves arguments about long division and grammar (debates, I mean debates)!  My son has received an email this week to announce that he has been chosen as Student of the Week by the School and in turn will receive an afternoon tea delivered to the door so yes, every cloud!

In the P2G office we also had a lovely surprise this week, a kind customer sent me a chocolate hamper as a ‘thank you’ and with us being choc-o-holics, it went down a treat – thank you so much Barry!

I hope you are all keeping safe and as the days slowly get lighter, dare we look forward to catch up’s in the garden with friends, family and neighbours?  I have my fingers crossed.

Take care,

Lins x
