Clematis Montana Mayleen

Spring flowering, climbing and scented Clematis with light pink single flowers and a yellow centre. Montana are quick growing climbers with red/ bronze tinged leaves on wiry stems which turn green as the summer progresses. They will quickly scramble over a pergola or along a fence. All they need is some canes and netting or trellis to get them started and they are off.
Clematis montana are fantastic for providing early pollinators with nectar and shelter in amongst its growth.
Whilst being quick to grow they need not be invasive at all. Simply after flowering has finished cut plants back to 30cm above ground where new shoots will form and provide you plenty of new fresh growth. After pruning give a top dress of fertliser and thats it.
Clematis montana flower next year on stems produced this year. This means unpruned plants often only produce flowers at their top where hard pruned plants produce flowers all along its stem.
