Apple Granny Smith (Bare Root)
Everyone has heard of this very popular apple.
This bright green skinned apple has a kick of acidity and crunchy texture is dual-purpose making a delicious eating apple, but also a very good cooking apple. Being self fertile it will crop every year once established.
Bred by English expats Maria Anne Smith in Australia in 1868 and selected because of its ability to hold firm when cooked was named Granny Smith as that's what the local children used to call her.
Supplied as a 2 year old bare rooted maiden tree on dwarfing rootstock - a maiden tree is a single stem which has been tipped to encourage side shoots to form this growing season.
