Delphiniums are striking in the flower border with their tall tower like spires which are draped with flower buds. An early summer flowering plant which does not fail to impress.

Delphiniums are not good in exposed sites and often benefit from growing beside twiggy shrubs where their stems support the towering flower stems of delphinium. If stand alone plants, plant in a sheltered spot and make a support ring from cans and string to support the stems as they grow.

After flowering cut down stems to ground level and you may get a second smaller flush of flowers in late summer.
