An ideal way to add all year-round colour with a versatile and uncomplicated Ilex Golden Gem, also known as Japanese Holly.

Evergreen, hardy, drought tolerant, disease resistant, the list of positives goes on and on and it is no wonder the RHS have given this wonderful shrub an AGM.

Low growing and therefore perfect as ground cover, Golden Gem can be pruned to your desired shape, happy in any sized garden and can even be used as topiary. The petite golden yellow leaves really do add a jolly splash of colour and a simple prune each year means this is pleasingly low maintenance. If using as a hedge, trim to shape in late Summer.
