An elegant, hardy and compact evergreen shrub, recognised for its great performance and beauty by being awarded an RHS AGM.

Giving interest all year round with its flame-red young leaves fading to pink in late spring and finally dark green in summer developing a white margin as they mature.

Pieris is a very busy plant with not only its ever changing shades of leaves but drooping chains of greenish white flower buds in winter and pure white urn shaped fragrant flowers from early-mid Spring.

Supplied as an established plant in a 4.5 litre pot, this Pieris measures approximately 30-40cm in height on receipt

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

RHS Award of Garden Merit

The RHS gave this variegated pieris its Award of Garden Merit, marking it as a dependable evergreen that performs reliably in gardens.

Colour in every season

New spring leaves open bright red before fading to green edged with creamy white, giving foliage interest across all four seasons.

Scented spring flowers

Drooping chains of white urn-shaped flowers carry a light fragrance in spring, drawing early bees to the garden.

About This Plant

Flaming Silver appeared as a sport of the well-known Pieris Forest Flame, keeping the fiery young growth but adding a silver-white rim to each leaf. Through winter the plant carries greenish flower buds in waiting chains, which open once milder weather arrives to bring the shrub its spring lift.

It needs acidic ground to thrive, so grow it in ericaceous compost or improve the soil before planting. Young plants dislike cold, drying winds, which can scorch the pale leaf margins, so give a sheltered spot and remove faded flower trusses once spring blooming ends.
