Description

Opal is one of the most reliable garden plums and that is why it is no surprise that the RHS have awarded this variety with an AGM (Award of Garden Merit).

This versatile self fertile plum has been grown on St Julien A rootstock which means it will only grow to approximately 2.5 to 3 metres if left unpruned although we would suggest a little prune in late Summer to remove any dead, damaged or crossing over branches. This mini orchard tree would be perfectly planted in your garden or how about in a large decorative container on your patio, either way, enjoy these delicious fruits in your cooking or perfect fresh, straight from your tree!

Pretty Spring blossom gives a beautiful display before the fruits appear and should be ready for picking from late July. We would suggest thinning out the fruits are they start to form to give them room to grow and the tree will only need a feed twice a year with a slow release fertiliser.

On arrival simply heal in as shown in the image until the weather allows or final planting space has been created. Final planting should take place before end of April.

Supplied as a bare root tree, this Plum Opal measures approximately 1-1.2 metres on receipt
