Fabulous colour changing Nandina to give year round interest in the garden.

The new foliage on this new and unusual variety starts pink in Spring and retains its colour throughout the summer before turning shades of fiery red in late Summer/Autumn. The foliage then stays red through the Winter before turning green the following Spring when a fresh flush of pink leaves appear. This spectacular colour change assures there is always an assortment of colours on the plant.

In addtion to this Nandina Pink Blush has white blooms during the Summer months which are followed by red berries.

This fully hardy, semi-evergreen shrub should be planted in full sun for the most spectacular results. Low maintenance, prune to shape only as required.

Supplied as 4.5ltr shrub

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Pink new growth

New leaves open pink in spring and hold that flush right through summer, before deepening to fiery red as the weather cools.

Flowers then berries

Sprays of small white flowers open in summer, followed by clusters of red berries that carry the colour well into the colder months.

Sized for small plots

Compact and slow growing, it suits small gardens and containers, where the shifting leaf colour can be watched close up through the year.

About This Plant

Blush Pink arose as a sport of the dwarf 'Firepower' and reached gardens through the Southern Living Plant Collection under plant patent. Despite the common name of sacred bamboo, it belongs to the barberry family and is no relation to true bamboo. The leaf colour turns full circle across the year, from pink through red to green.

Keep it in a bright, open spot for the strongest red, as heavy shade dulls the tones. Care asks little: trim only to shape, and cut the oldest canes to the base now and then to spark fresh growth. Moist, free-draining soil suits it best.
