Beautiful heart shaped leaves and bright blue flowers make Brunnera Jack Frost a must for a shady spot in the garden.

In early Spring the gorgeous heart shaped foliage on this plant starts to appear. The leaves are mid-green in colour with silver markings which look just like Jack Frost has been. Foliage is followed by sprays of bright blue, forget-me-not type blooms.

Ideally for placing in a shady spot in the garden, plant under trees or in a shady corner and enjoy this perennial plant for years to come.

Plants die back naturally in late Autumn and will start to re-grow in early Spring.

Supplied as 1 x 2 ltr plant

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Perennial Plant of the Year

Chosen as the Perennial Plant Association's Plant of the Year in 2012, picked ahead of more than four hundred other perennials for its garden performance.

Feeds early bees

The sprays of blue forget-me-not flowers open in mid spring, giving emerging bumblebees and other bees an early nectar source as the shade garden wakes up.

Light for dark corners

Silver-frosted heart-shaped leaves reflect what little light reaches a shady bed, and the spreading clumps knit together to cover bare ground beneath trees.

About This Plant

A stray sport in a tray of tissue-cultured plants gave rise to this variety. John Walters noticed it at his Michigan nursery in 1997, thrown up by the older green-leaved 'Langtrees'. The species behind it grows wild in the damp woodlands of the Caucasus.

Growth dies back completely in late autumn and fresh leaves unfurl again as the ground warms. It asks for little beyond steady moisture, since dry roots scorch the foliage. Cut away tired leaves in early spring rather than autumn, which protects the crown through winter, then mulch around the base.
