Panicles of white blooms with a delicious honey scent.

Buddleia Silver Anniversary is a semi-evergreen shrub which has unusual textured, furry, lance shaped silver/grey foliage. It's unusual 'frosty' looking appearance will add interest to any garden in either pots and containers or beds and borders. This shrub is often called 'Morning Mist'

A more compact variety, panicles of white flowers with a burnt orange centre appear from July through to September and have a delicious honey scent.

Fully hardy, plant Silver Anniversary in full sun or partial shade.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Honeyed white panicles

The white panicles carry a warm honey scent through summer air, drawing it across a patio or seating area on still evenings.

Silver frosted foliage

Furry silver-grey leaves inherited from Buddleja crispa hold a frosted look that lifts a border long after the flowers have faded.

Feeding butterflies and bees

Butterflies and bees work the nectar-rich panicles right through the summer, a reliable feeding stop when the borders are at their fullest.

About This Plant

Raised by the plantsman Peter Moore at Longstock in Hampshire, Silver Anniversary comes from crossing Buddleja crispa with Buddleja loricata. The silver, felted leaves and semi-evergreen habit trace back to that pairing, giving it a softer, frostier look than the common butterfly bush most gardeners know.

Its blooms are sterile, so it will not seed itself around the garden the way older buddleias do. A hard cut in early spring is the job that matters, since it prompts a flush of fresh silver shoots and keeps the plant compact rather than leggy.
