A fabulous, dwarf variety of spreading evergreen perfect for ground cover and not only will it give a wonderful splash of variegated, warming colour all year round but it also means there will be less space for those pesky weeks!

This eye-catching, low maintenance shrub is perfect to add some unusual variegated foliage to your garden beds/borders and will compliment all colour varieties of nearby plants and shrubs beautifully with its wide, yellow margin leaves which will take on a pink tint in the Winter.

Recognised for its performance by being awarded an RHS AGM, Emerald n Gold could even be the solution to that tricky, shady spot as it is perfectly happy in full shade, full sun or part shade. Small clusters of petite green flowers occasionally form in early Summer.

Supplied as an established plant in a 2 litre pot, this Euonymus fortunei Emerald n Gold measures approximately 25-30cm on receipt

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

RHS Award of Garden Merit

Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, a mark of reliable performance from plants trialled and judged across British garden conditions.

Weed-smothering ground cover

Grown as a low, spreading mat, the dense evergreen foliage carpets bare soil and leaves little room for weeds to get going.

Colour for full shade

Happy in full shade where many shrubs sulk, it earns its place brightening the dim, difficult corners under trees or against a north wall.

About This Plant

The wintercreeper species behind this cultivar grows wild through the forests and scrublands of East Asia. In the garden its gold-edged leaves shift with the seasons, warming to a soft pinkish red once frost arrives and holding that tone through the greyest weeks before greening again in spring.

Two jobs keep it looking its best. Cut out any plain green shoots that appear without the yellow margin, since these grow stronger and take over if left. Given a wall and a few ties, the stems climb readily rather than sprawling, useful for clothing the foot of a fence.
