A ground covering, mound forming perennial that flowers its heart out. The flowers look like flowers within flowers.

Common name Candytuft, this evergreen perennial has deep green foliage and gorgeous clusters of soft pink flowers with deeper pink centres. Within each cluster are some white flowers giving that sparkling ice effect.
An easy to grow plant that thrives in poor sandy soils and is drought tolerant too.

The flowers are loved by pollinating insects and will often have multiple flushes of blooms from Spring to Autumn and will flower year after year. Simply trim off spent flowers with shears to keep in shape.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Flowers within flowers

Soft pink clusters carry deeper pink centres and scattered white blooms, giving each head the frosted sparkle behind the name.

A pollinator favourite

Repeat flushes of bloom from spring to autumn keep bees, butterflies and hoverflies supplied over a remarkably long stretch.

Happy on poor soil

Thin, sandy or stony ground suits it well, making it a reliable choice for rockeries, wall tops and dry sunny edges.

About This Plant

Pink Ice arrived as a patented selection of hybrid candytuft, part of a wave of breeding that has pulled pinks and lavenders out of a genus long dominated by white. Its glossy, deep green mat has a gently trailing habit, so it will spill over a rock or the lip of a raised bed.

The only regular job is a trim with shears once each flush of flowers is spent, which keeps growth dense and hurries the next set of buds along. Good drainage does the rest. Plants sulk in rich, damp ground, so hold back on feeding and let lean conditions bring out their best.
