Specimen plant to give structure in the garden.

Hardy to -10c, Phormium Cream Delight is a great, architectural plant to give structure and form in the garden.

Perfectly suited to growing in beds and borders or pots and containers, Cream Delight has green and cream variegated, sword like foliage with a red margin, making a striking statement.

Mature plants will develop cream coloured flowers in the correct condtions during occasional Summers.

Place in full sun or partial shade. A low maintenance evergeen plant which holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit for its fabulous garden performance.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

An RHS award winner

Cream Delight holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, recognition of dependable garden performance and variegation that stays stable as clumps mature.

Evergreen winter structure

The arching, sword-shaped leaves hold their cream and green banding right through winter, giving borders shape and colour when perennials have died down.

Happy by the sea

Drought tolerant once established and untroubled by salt-laden wind, it suits coastal gardens where fussier border plants scorch and struggle.

About This Plant

Cream Delight began as a sport, a naturally variegated shoot spotted on Phormium 'Tricolor' and introduced in New Zealand in 1978 by Margaret Jones. Each leaf carries a broad cream central band with green margins and a fine red pencil line along the edge, and the whole clump arches like a fountain.

Little needs doing through the year. Cut faded outer leaves away at the base to keep the shape clean, and in cold districts lay a thick, dry mulch over the roots before the first hard frosts. Clumps that become congested after several seasons can be lifted and divided in spring.
