One of the most impressive and sought after plants in the garden, Agapanthus provide a truly magnificent display during the summer months.

Summer Love is a stunning hardy perennial with violet blue flowers with darker blue mid-rib on elegant stems complimented with long, strappy foliage. Perfect for pots and containers (as prefers roots to be restricted for enhanced flowers) or beds and borders where the soil is well drained in winter.

We recommend a liquid feed once a month throughout Spring and Summer and some protection throughout the winter. Can be divided in Spring once established.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

A longer flowering run

Bred to hold its blooms for longer than most agapanthus, so the violet blue heads keep going after other varieties have gone over.

Forage for bees

The nectar-rich globes bring in bees and butterflies through the warmest weeks, adding movement to a patio pot or a sunny border.

Handles dry spells

Once settled it takes drought and heat in its stride, which suits a container that dries quickly or a free-draining sunny bed.

About This Plant

Sold across Europe under the French name L'Amour d'Été Bleu, this belongs to a series chosen for compact plants that bloom for weeks on end. It keeps evergreen, strap-shaped leaves, so the clump stays furnished long before the violet blue umbels open.

Roots that are a little cramped seem to trigger the best flowering, which is why a snug pot works well. Give it a liquid feed once a month from spring, and lift and divide an old clump in spring when you want to keep it vigorous.
