Pink flower buds and creamy white trumpet shaped blooms.

Azalea Silver Slipper is a fully hardy deciduous Azalea. The pink buds open to reveal creamy white trumpet shaped blooms with a striking yellow flare and soft pink flush.

This deciduous Azalea will flower in May - June with fragrant blooms.

The green foliage is tinged bronze when young.

Silver Slipper holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit and will grow to around 180cm height and spread.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

RHS award winner

Named an RHS Award of Garden Merit plant, a sign it has proved reliable and free-flowering in gardens across Britain.

Fragrant late-spring blooms

The creamy trumpet flowers give off a sweet fragrance that drifts across a border on still spring evenings, drawing you closer.

Two seasons of foliage

Young leaves emerge tinged bronze in spring, then the deciduous foliage colours again in autumn before falling, so the shrub earns its space beyond flowering.

About This Plant

Silver Slipper belongs to the Knap Hill and Exbury line of deciduous azaleas, a British breeding tradition known for large trumpet-shaped flowers. Pink-flushed buds open to creamy white blooms marked by a yellow flare, held in rounded trusses at the branch tips.

It needs acid or ericaceous soil that stays moist yet drains freely, so a woodland-style bed suits it. Plant shallowly, since the roots sit near the surface, and top-dress each spring with leafmould to feed the plant and keep those roots cool through summer.
