Beautiful clusters of pink and white star shaped flowers adorn this hardy, deciduous shrub from April through to July.

A more compact variety than some but with larger blooms - making this ideal for smaller gardens or for growing in pots and containers.

Deutzia Raspberry Sundae will reach around 90cm height and spread and loves a sunny spot in the garden.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Scent on summer evenings

A soft perfume lifts from the pink blooms through early summer, carrying on warm still evenings across a patio or by an open window.

Bees and hoverflies

Open, nectar-rich flowers draw foraging bees and hoverflies through late spring and summer, when they feed on the pale pink stars.

Gold autumn foliage

The apple-green leaves fade to warm gold before they drop, adding a second season of colour once the flowers have finished.

About This Plant

Raspberry Sundae came to the trade under the code name Low 18, a compact deutzia selected for larger blooms than most. Each pale flower carries a deeper purple-pink stain at the petal tips, a two-tone effect that reads well close up in a container or at the front of a bed.

It asks for very little. Prune the flowered stems once the display fades, taking out any tired old wood at the same time, and the shrub builds fresh growth for next year. It settles into chalk, clay or sandy ground and copes with acid or alkaline soil alike.
