Pearly white star shaped flowers.

Blushing Pearl bears the most beautiful white buds flushed pink that open to show pearly white star shaped flowers in May and June.

A deciduous shrub - Blushing Pearl is more compact than other varieties of Exochorda but is highly floriferous bearing masses of flower covering the branches.

Suitable for beds and borders or pots and containers.

Supplied as 1 x 4ltr shrub

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Flowers along the branch

Buds show a pink blush before opening to white flowers set closely along the whole length of each branch, so the plant flowers from top to bottom.

Amber autumn foliage

Come autumn the leaves turn warm shades of amber and orange before they drop, adding a second season of interest to a spring-flowering shrub.

Neat for small spaces

Its dense, upright shape stays neat enough for a large container or a spot in a smaller border where a sprawling shrub would not fit.

About This Plant

Blushing Pearl came from the Dutch nursery of Huisman Boomkwekerij and reached gardens around 2018, a newer face among the pearl bushes. New shoots push through red in spring, followed by the pink-tinged buds that give the plant its name, before everything settles to fresh mid-green for summer.

It needs no regular pruning to perform, though a light cut once the flowers have finished keeps the growth dense and encourages plenty of buds the following year. Any shortening is best done then rather than in spring, since the flowers form on wood made the previous year.
