Perfect for pots and containers with large balls of bloom.

We love this cracking variety of Hydrangea paniculata.

Truely dwarf and compact in nature, reaching only 50cm in height and 40cm in spread, what Little Spooky lacks in stature it certainly makes up for in flower power!

Large dome shaped panicles of apple white flowers appear from July through to September/October, almost hiding the foliage completely.

Perfect for container gardening, Little Spooky is fully hardy and deciduous, giving a wonderful display in the garden year after year.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Big blooms, tiny plant

Large dome-shaped white panicles cover a truly dwarf shrub, almost hiding the leaves beneath at the height of its flowering.

Made for pots

Its small footprint suits a container, a narrow border or the front of a bed where a full-sized hydrangea would crowd.

Feeds foraging insects

The fertile flowers within the white heads offer nectar to bees and hoverflies through the summer and into early autumn.

About This Plant

Little Spooky began as a chance seedling from a cross between 'Silver Dollar' and 'Limelight', spotted and developed by the Dutch breeder Guido Rouwette. It took around eight years of selection before the plant reached gardens, chosen for a compact frame unusual among panicle hydrangeas, which more often grow into large shrubs.

The ghostly white cones that gave the plant its name fade to soft green and pink tones as they mature. Keep the roots moist in dry spells, especially in a pot, and prune in spring back to a low set of buds to keep the growth fresh and the flowers plentiful.
