A cottage garden must have with semi-double red blooms.

Geum Mrs Bradshaw is an absolute must in any cottage garden style border. This clump forming, full hardy, perennial plant bears glorious red semi-double blooms on tall stems above the foliage from June through to September, or even beyond!

The rich red blooms are offset beautifully by fresh green foliage. This perennial offers great garden performance and has been endorsed with the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Highly attractive to bees and other beneficial insects.

Choose your size. A single 2 litre plant, or three of them, which is enough to build a proper drift rather than one dot in a border.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Good for cutting

The scarlet semi-double flowers ride on tall wiry stems well clear of the leaves, which makes them good for cutting and easy to see across a border.

Draws in bees

Open-centred red blooms bring in bees and other useful insects across the summer, a splash of nectar in the cottage border.

RHS Award of Garden Merit

Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, earned through dependable flowering and sturdy garden performance over many years.

About This Plant

Mrs Bradshaw traces back to Geum chiloense, a species from the wet island of Chiloe off the Chilean coast, and was introduced around 1909 by a nursery at Codsall in Staffordshire. The semi-double scarlet flowers sit above rounded, fresh green leaves that stay low as a basal clump.

Keep snapping off the faded blooms and it will carry on producing new stems for weeks rather than setting seed. The clumps lose steam after three or four years, so dig and divide them in spring to renew the plant. Clear away tired leaves as the season ends.
