Masses of lavender coloured dainty blooms for months on end.

Iberis Mermaid Lavender is a compact, mound-forming perennial that produces masses of lavender coloured blooms from Spring right through to Summer.

Being both heat and drought tolerant once established this fabulous little plant is a fuss-free, low maintenance performer in the garden, best planted in a sunny spot or in partial shade in the border.

Also known as Evergreen Candytuft, Iberis keeps its deep green foliage through the Winter months before flowering again the following Spring.

Choose your size. A single 2 litre plant, or three of them, which is enough to edge a path or fill the front of a border in one go.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Early food for pollinators

Nectar rich flower heads open from early spring, feeding bees and butterflies emerging when garden forage is still scarce.

Ground cover in numbers

Planted as a group, the three mounds knit together into a low carpet that shades out weeds along an edge or bank.

Shrugs off dry summers

Heat and drought rarely trouble established plants, so a sunny border corner that scorches other perennials suits it well.

About This Plant

Lavender is a rare shade in candytuft, a group better known for pools of white, and this cultivar carries it in dense heads over dark evergreen leaves. It belongs to the Mermaid series of hybrids, raised and patented in recent years to widen the colour range and stretch the season of an old cottage garden stalwart.

Treat all three plants the same way: sharp drainage, no feeding to speak of, and a shear over once flowering pauses to keep each cushion dense and encourage fresh buds. Avoid heavy, waterlogged ground in winter. Left otherwise undisturbed, the group settles in and improves year on year.
