Evergreen mini standard to add structure and form to the garden.

Our mini standard Bay Trees makes a sophisticated addition to the patio or garden and are practical too!

We love these standard trees planted into a decorative planter and placed on the patio - they look beautiful all year round and are so handy for picking bay leaves for a wide variety of culinary uses due to their glossy, aromatic foliage.

Being mediterranean plants they prefer a spot in full sun where they can soak up the sunshine and will give you garden a nice holiday vibe too.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Bay leaves to pick

Glossy aromatic leaves can be picked fresh or dried all year for stews, soups and slow-cooked dishes, so the plant earns its keep in the kitchen.

Spring flowers for bees

In spring clusters of small pale yellow flowers open among the leaves, giving early bees a source of nectar before much else is in bloom.

Takes coastal wind

A Mediterranean native, bay copes with salt-laden coastal air and dry spells once settled, and clips neatly into shape for a pot or doorway.

About This Plant

Bay is Laurus nobilis, an evergreen laurel from the Mediterranean grown since classical times for its scented leaves. This mini standard has been trained on a single clear stem topped by a rounded head, giving a clipped, formal outline that holds its looks in every season.

Grown in a pot, it wants free-draining compost and steady watering, since containers dry out fast in summer. Trim the head lightly once or twice through the growing season to keep its shape, and shelter it from hard frost and cold drying winds, which can scorch the foliage.
