Pale blue flowers with a darker blue stripe.

Agapanthus Charlotte is a beautiful addition to the garden with its balls of blue flower heads that have a darker blue stripe.

Flowering from July to September, Agapanthus Charlotte is perfect for growing in pots and containers or beds and borders in a sunny spot in the garden and is loved by the bees and other pollinating insects.

Beautiful strap-like green foliage which is semi-evergreen meaning it will hold in milder winters on this compact, clump forming perennial.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Bees on every stem

Each rounded head opens dozens of nectar-rich trumpets in turn, keeping bees and other pollinating insects supplied for weeks at a stretch.

Two-tone summer blue

Pale blue petals carry a darker blue-purple stripe down each midrib, a detail that lifts the flower heads out of the ordinary from July to September.

Foliage that lingers

Strap-shaped leaves are semi-evergreen, holding through milder winters to keep pots and border edges furnished when neighbouring perennials have gone underground.

About This Plant

African lilies trace back to South Africa, where the wild species grow on cliffs and grassy slopes. Charlotte is a modern protected selection valued for tidy, compact growth and sturdy stems that stay upright through summer storms without a cane in sight.

Fertile soil that drains freely suits it best, with a feed as growth restarts in spring. A dry mulch over the crown sees it through hard winters in colder counties, and lifting and dividing congested clumps in spring every few years renews vigour and yields spare plants for elsewhere.
