Light pink veined flowers on this hardy, cranesbill geranium.

Geranium Mavis Simpson is a hardy, cranesbill geranium which bears masses of light pink blooms with darker pink veining and a pale centre. Flower appear from June through to August and are loved by pollinators.

Attractive grey-green foliage forms a carpet providing great ground cover.

Geranium Mavis Simpson has been awarded the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit due to its fantastic garden performance.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

RHS Award of Garden Merit

Given the RHS Award of Garden Merit after garden trials, a sign it flowers long and holds up without fuss.

Trails over an edge

Pale pink blooms carry fine darker veins and a soft centre, held on trailing stems that spill neatly over a path edge or low wall.

Copes with dry ground

The grey-green foliage trails into a weed-suppressing mat and copes with dry sunny ground once settled, filling awkward spots at the border front.

About This Plant

Mavis Simpson belongs to the riversleaianum group and turned up as a chance seedling at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, spotted by a garden supervisor and named for a colleague on the alpine staff. The grey-green leaves and trailing stems give it a softer, more relaxed look than the upright cranesbills.

It threads between other plants rather than forming a tight clump, so let it wander over an edge or through low neighbours. Once its roots are down it takes dry spells in its stride. Cut away tired stems through the season to keep fresh flowers and leaves coming, then tidy it after it dies back.
