Pure white blooms.

Deutzia Snowflake is a neat and compact variety with masses of flower power.

A deciduous and fully hardy shrub which is low maintenance and fuss free, easy to grow and perfect for pots and containers as well as beds and borders.

The pure white flowers appear in June and July, smothering the plant.

In Autumn the foliage then takes on burgundy shades for an extra season of interest.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

As the days shorten the green leaves turn deep burgundy and purple, holding colour into autumn after the white flowers have gone.

Early nectar for bees

The clustered white flowers give foraging bees an early summer nectar source, smothering the low mound so the blooms are easy for insects to reach.

Cover for a bank

The low, spreading habit knits together to cover a bank or the front of a border, keeping the ground shaded and settled.

About This Plant

This is one of Dr Tom Ranney's Yuki series, raised at North Carolina State University and sold under the code NCDX1. Its white, five-petalled flowers are larger than those of the older Nikko deutzia and stay on the plant longer, smothering a neat, rounded frame each year.

Little upkeep is needed. Once flowering ends, shorten the stems that carried blooms and clear out any weak growth so light reaches the centre. Grown in moist, free-draining ground it settles quickly, and the foliage rewards you again as it colours up later in the year.
