An upright columnar shaped conifer with rich green/ yellow leaves turning golden in colder temperatures. A stand out plant for winter colour in the garden or container. So good it has an Award of Garden Merit from the R.H.S.

Slow growing conifers are SLOW growing and look great all year round. This plant is already 5 years old. Eventual height is 4m approx. 15 feet but in 20 years!

No maintenance is required but should you want to trim it is easy to do with shears.

Supplied as a 4.5 litre pot grown plant which is approximately 30cm high.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

RHS Award of Garden Merit

Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, a mark of reliable garden performance earned through years of trials for hardiness and consistent colour.

Gold deepens in cold

The golden foliage grows richer as temperatures drop, so its strongest colour arrives in winter when the garden most needs a lift.

Upright accent for small spaces

A narrow, conical outline draws the eye upward and fits neat corners, pots and the ends of borders without crowding its neighbours.

About This Plant

Among the many golden forms of Lawson's cypress, Ivonne ranks with the brightest. The species itself comes from the Pacific coast of North America and now supplies gardens worldwide through its selections. Foliage is held in flattened, upright sprays that catch the light and warm to a deeper yellow as the year turns colder.

Care is light. The plant builds slowly into a dense pillar and needs no regular pruning, though stray shoots can be tidied with shears. Position it in full light to hold the deepest gold, shelter it from harsh drying winds, and water pots through summer dry spells.
