New Breeding with year round interest!

This delightful, new Viburnum Tinus makes a hard working addition to the garden, providing year round interest and is great for the wildlife.

Low maintenance and fully hardy, this evergreen shrub has new foliage which is flushed coppery red before turning a glossy green colour.

During the winter deep pink flower buds appear that open up to reveal large clusters of white flowers which are followed by purple berries.

Flowers and berries and loved by the bees, butterflies and birds.

Plant in full sun or partial shades in beds and borders or large containers.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Three kinds of visitor

Bees and butterflies work the flowers while birds take the purple berries, giving three kinds of garden life something from one shrub.

Coppery new growth

Fresh foliage emerges flushed coppery red before settling to glossy green, so the evergreen frame keeps changing rather than staying flat.

Buds through winter

Deep pink buds form through winter and open into broad clusters of white flowers, carrying colour across the quiet end of the year.

About This Plant

Rock N Rolla is a recent selection of Viburnum tinus, the laurustinus native to the Mediterranean and long valued for winter flower on an evergreen frame. This form was bred for compact growth and a longer run of interest, with a bud and flower display followed by berries that ripen to a metallic purple.

Being evergreen, it holds its glossy leaves all year and needs only a light trim once flowering ends to keep its rounded shape. It settles into most soils that drain freely, and once established it copes with dry spells, so early watering to build the root system is the job that matters most.
