Fragrant Sweet Box with masses of white blooms.

This wonderfully fragrant Sarcococca bears masses of delicate white blooms from December to March which pack a huge punch.

Attractive, narrow lance shaped evergreen foliage with glossy sheen is held on this compact, low maintenance shrub all year round.

Highly floriferous, fully hardy and compact evergreen ideal for beds and borders or pots and containers.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Holds an RHS award

Dragon Gate carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit, a mark earned through trials for dependable behaviour in real gardens.

Fragrance on cold days

For such tiny tasselled flowers the scent carries a surprising distance across still winter air, drawing you to the source on grey days.

Good in shaded corners

The narrow evergreen leaves keep their gloss in shade, so it lights up a dim border or a north facing bed through the year.

About This Plant

Dragon Gate is a distinctive form of sweet box raised from seed gathered in China, and its willow narrow foliage sets it apart from the broader leaved kinds. The dark, tapering leaves have a lacquered shine that holds all year, giving the plant a fine textured, almost bamboo like look between its flowering spells.

Grown in a container it stays neat and slow, ideal by a doorway where its winter flowers can be met close up. Keep the compost from drying out fully in summer, and clip lightly after the flowers fade if you want to hold a tighter shape.
