The array of colours this foliage displays are a real treat, from shades of green and yellow with rugged orange and red outlines, deepening throughout the Autumn and Winter meaning it will really stand out from the crowd.

The leathery evergreen leaves for all year-round interest in your garden bed/border or perfectly happy in a container on your patio or balcony. Grown for their wide variety of brightly coloured foliage, Tequila Sunrise is also neat and compact and also ideal as a low hedge displaying beautiful colours throughout the seasons.

Simply prune to shape and feed in the Spring.

Supplied as an established plant in a 4.5 litre pot, this Coprosma Tequila Sunrise measures approximately 25-30cm on receipt

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

A low hedge with colour

Clipped as informal low hedging, it edges a path in glossy green, gold and flame instead of plain privet.

Deepest colour in winter

Cold weather intensifies the orange and red leaf margins, so the display reaches its richest just as frost arrives.

Easy once established

Settled plants tolerate dry spells and coastal wind, needing only a spring feed and an occasional light trim.

About This Plant

Coprosmas come from New Zealand, where their high-gloss leaves earned them the name mirror plant, and Tequila Sunrise is one of the shiniest selections yet raised. Named after the layered cocktail, each leaf carries the same graded colours, green at the centre running out through gold to rims of orange and red.

Two jobs matter. Water it through the first summer while the roots take hold, and in colder inland gardens give it a sheltered corner, since prolonged hard frost can scorch the leaf edges. Get those right and the leathery, lacquered foliage carries on without any further attention worth mentioning.
