Golden flowers followed by salmon pink berries!

Beautiful, fully hardy, Hypericum with semi-evergreen foliage.

This stunning, compact shrub gives many months of joy in the garden.  From June through to October golden yellow flowers adorn the plant, which act as a magnet to bees and other beneficial pollinators.

After flowering, coral yellow berries appear which change colour with maturity moving through salmon pink to black, giving extra interest.

Flowers make wonderful additions to indoor displays.

Compact variety, reaching around 80cm in height, 100cm spread.  Ideal for smaller gardens or planting in pots and containers.

For a limited time only, buy Hypericum Magical Beauty and receive a free Barnwell Planter worth £19!

Barnwell Planters measure 40cm x 34cm and come complete pre-drilled drainage holes.  Planters are lightweight, UV and Frosts resistant.

Fully hard, plant in full sun or part shade and prune to shape lightly after flowering.

Supplied as 1 x 3tr shrub

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Cut stems that last

Glossy maroon berries follow the golden flowers and last for weeks in a vase, a favourite of florists for autumn arrangements.

A magnet for bees

Each saucer of golden stamens is loaded with pollen, drawing honeybees, bumblebees and hoverflies through late summer.

Rust resistant foliage

Bred in the Netherlands for resistance to hypericum rust, so the bronze green foliage stays clean where older varieties turn spotty.

About This Plant

Magical Universe comes from the Kolster nursery in Boskoop, the Dutch breeder behind the Magical series of hypericums raised for the cut flower trade. Growers know it under the name Black Gem, a nod to fruits so deep a maroon they read as black, among the darkest in the whole series.

Red stems hold their colour through the quieter months, and the leaves release a faint resinous scent when brushed. Little pruning is needed, just a light trim once the display is over to keep the outline neat, with older stems taken lower every few years to refresh growth. It settles into most soils without complaint.
