Its hard to not fall in love with this delightful, fairly new, frost hardy Verbena, just look at that vibrant colour!

Santos Purple not only produces masses of blooms, it is also very heat and drought tolerant and has exceptional performance even in cool climates. Its wonderful spreading habit makes Santos Purple perfect in pots and containers where it will spill out over the edges which also means its great as ground cover in borders too.

Flowering non stop from June until at least September, this fully hardy, easy to grow Verbena creates a mass of vivid colour and the bees love it!

About This Plant

Santos Purple is a recent selection of Verbena rigida, a species from the grasslands of Brazil and Argentina where dry, sunny conditions are the norm. That heritage explains its easy tolerance of heat and its long, unbroken run of magenta-purple flowers.

The plant spreads sideways rather than climbing, building a low mound that widens through summer. It is more frost hardy than many verbenas but still appreciates a sheltered spot in cold gardens. Trim back in spring once growth resumes to keep it dense and free-flowering.
