Pure white blooms.

A beautiful, deciduous shrub, Exochroda The Bride is highly floriferous, bearing an abundance of pure white flowers on long, arching stems in May and June.

In addition to beautiful blooms and fabulous shape of the bush, in Autumn, the foliage takes on glorious shades of orange and gold.

Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit due to its outstanding performance, this fully hardy shrub will thrive in either full sun or partial shade and makes a fantastic, low maintenance addition to beds and borders.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

RHS Award of Garden Merit

Carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit, given to shrubs that prove dependable and good-looking across a wide range of British gardens.

Draws bees and butterflies

The open white flowers draw in bees and butterflies through late spring, offering an early nectar source as they move between the border and the shrub.

Autumn colour and seed heads

In autumn the foliage turns shades of orange and gold, and the small star-shaped seed heads dry to burgundy, hanging on like little decorations.

About This Plant

The Bride was raised over a century ago at the celebrated Lemoine nursery in Nancy, France, from a cross between two Asian pearl bushes. Long, arching stems bow outward under the weight of bloom, giving the shrub a fountain-like shape that softens the stiff lines of a border.

It asks little once established and settles happily into almost any soil, from chalk through to heavy clay. A light prune straight after flowering keeps the arching habit tidy and makes room for the fresh stems that will carry the following year's flowers.
