Tropical looking Hibiscus thats a lot tougher than it looks!

Although looking like it belongs in warmer or sunnier climes, Starburst chiffon is actually fully hardy.

Large semi-double blooms measure up to 10cm across and appear from July through to October.

Flowers are soft pale pink in colour with deeper pink markings giving a beautiful bi-colour display.

Both heat and drought tolerant for best results grow in full sun.

Supplied as 1 x 3ltr shrub

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

Holds the RHS award

The Royal Horticultural Society has given Starburst Chiffon its Award of Garden Merit, a sign it performs dependably in ordinary British gardens.

Feeds late bees

Open-centred blooms keep going into mid-autumn, giving bees and other late foragers pollen and nectar well after most border flowers have finished.

Thrives in heat

Both heat and drought tolerant, it holds up through a baking summer in a sunbaked, free-draining spot where thirstier shrubs would wilt.

About This Plant

Starburst Chiffon, code-named 'Rwoods6', is another of Roderick Woods's Chiffon roses of Sharon and looks far more tender than it is. Each pale flower is brushed with deeper pink veining that radiates from the eye. Growth is deciduous, so the bush leafs up only once spring has properly warmed.

It asks very little in the way of pruning. Blooms form on the current year's growth, so a light tidy in early spring is enough, taking out any dead or crossing wood and shortening a few stems to shape the plant. A spring mulch helps it settle after planting.
