Strawberry Ice cream like flowers on this medium sized shrub.

A paniculata type Hydrangea with a cone shaped 25-30cm long inflorescence. Each flower cone begins white and turns to dark pink as it ages. Flowers remain in colour for 100 days.

Leave the faded blooms on the plant for added autumn and winter interest and simply cut all foliage to a healthy pair of buds 30-60 cm from the ground in spring.

Choose your size. The 4.5 litre plant arrives approximately 30 to 60cm tall. The 10 litre is a larger, more established shrub for anyone wanting height straight away.

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

A hundred days of colour

Each cone opens white and deepens to strawberry pink, holding its colour for around a hundred days from midsummer onwards.

Bees and hoverflies

The fertile florets among the showy bracts give bees and hoverflies an easy source of nectar through the warmer months.

Room in a small garden

A medium shrub that settles happily into a modest border or a large pot, coping with full sun or a little shade.

About This Plant

Bred by Living Creations in Boskoop, the Dutch nursery town at the heart of hydrangea breeding, this variety was awarded a Silver medal by the KVBC. It grows on strong branches that hold the heavy cones upright, so the plant keeps its shape even after rain weighs the flowers down.

Left uncut, the faded heads dry to parchment tones and hold through the colder months, catching frost on still mornings. When spring arrives, cut the previous year's growth back to a healthy pair of buds low on the plant, which encourages strong new stems and fuller flowers.
