Amazing spring flower power from this small twisty stemmed shrub.

This R.H.S award winning variety of Fuji Cherry has small twisty, zig-zag like branches from which in early spring hundreds of pink eyed pale pink to white flowers open which completely cover the plant. Hundreds of flowers on each plants.

The flowers remain until its light green serrated edged leaves open in late spring from bronzed buds. This award winning small shrub is ideal for containers and planting in borders where it will flower its heart out every spring.

Each plant is supplied as a multi stemmed 3 litre pot grown plant which is approximately 40cm high.

Kojo No Mai is a slow growing shrub reaching 2m (7ft)  in 20 years!

What This Plant Brings to Your Garden

RHS Award winner

This Fuji cherry holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, recognised for smothering itself in blossom every spring on a plant small enough for a patio.

Early food for bees

The early blossom draws bees and other pollinators out of the border at a lean point in the year, before most fruit trees have opened.

Zig-zag winter stems

Zig-zag, twisting branches give winter shape once the leaves fall, and those leaves colour to orange and red before they drop in autumn.

About This Plant

Prunus incisa is the Fuji cherry, native to the foothills of Mount Fuji and neighbouring hills in Japan. 'Kojo-no-mai' is a slow, twiggy selection whose Japanese name is often read as a dance of butterflies. Flowers open from crimson buds to pale pink and white, before the bronze-tinted young leaves unfurl.

It grows slowly and takes many years to reach full size, which keeps it well suited to a large container. Pruning group one applies, so the lightest tidy is enough, and it is best done just after flowering to protect next year's buds. Watch for the usual cherry troubles, silver leaf and bacterial canker, and prune only in dry summer weather to reduce the risk.
